We won't have any idea as to why.  Could be anything and that is why we tell you to work with your doctor to see whats going on.

you don't have to be sitting in the sun all day long to get uv exposure.  you need to buy a good quality spf lip balm and start using it.

no reason to think you have hiv from what you've posted. There's a terrific article on the right side of your screen on hiv from oral sex. have you read that yet?

are you using a high spf lip balm multiple times throughout the day?  uv light is a trigger for cold sores so if you are spending more time in the sun than you normally would, that also would explain the increase too.

you already have oral herpes, you didn't get it "worse" from someone else.

have you been following up with your provider at all for this?  certainly getting 5 ob's in a year of oral herpes when previously you only had them periodically is a reason to look further into this. could be you have something other than herpes going on, something triggering it or even just sick more than usual this past year which triggered more. doubtful it's hiv going on and you aren't likely to pick up hiv from oral sex either.  sometimes it really is just bad luck causing more frequent cold sores but covering the bases is never a bad idea.
