outbreak and lip piercing

Hello! I had an outbreak on my lip about two days ago. I've had cold sores on the left side of my lip since I was a kid, but they've become less frequent these last years. I also happen to have a lip piercing on the right side of my mouth. I've had it for about 4 years, and I know it's kinds silly for me to ask this now, after all these years... but should I take my piercing off while I have an outbreak? If so, what should I do to disinfect it, just alcohol and boiling water with salt?

no reason to take out your piercing  just because you have a cold sore. It's not an issue.

Cleaning the piercing can be taken off and cleaned in alcohol or even soap and water will kill the virus.  I would say take it out because no need for the virus to be all over your lip piercing but really it's not going to matter much because you already have HSV.
