Nothing here changes my previous comments, you do need to be careful to protect this current partner and have testing in the appropriate time frames.
Also would it be typical of herpes to have the small bumps on my penis show up a week apart (just 1 bump each time in different spots) and then the spot on the roof of my mouth a week after that? I've felt sluggish and fluish ever since the bump on my throat showed up. This all scares the heck out of me.
I have had full testing on all of those items in regards to prostate ect. That I hope just passes with time.
My current issue with the IGM positive result and the small bumps that appeared recently are what scare me. I did feel down and sluggish at this time but I feel that was due to the depression of the diagnosis from the test. I did feel sick though during this episode with my throat but from what i hear it would be very unlikely that I transmitted anything to my throat if I have anything at all. Really just need some piece of mind that I won't hurt my current partner....
Have you considered a Westernblot test (if you are US based) to confirm that there is not a HSV1 infection that is not being detected by commercial IgG tests?
What you describe though is not uncommon; men sometimes to have difficult to diagnose problems involving prostate, pelvic floor muscles, testicles and bladder for example. I trust you have had full testing for STDs and other diseases that can impact those organs?
Although it strictly cannot be ruled out, it is unlikely that herpes was the cause of your longer term problems you describe.
The IgM test is not a good test and should be taken only as a sign that your body may be fighting a HSV infection. Confirmatory testing is always required. IgG is much more accurate and is the only test you should apply any credibility to.
The drunken encounter does remain of concern and therefore you need testing 12 weeks at least post that encounter to have some confidence you weren't infected.
As for the new girl, sorry but the responsible thing to do is to be open and say you've had some symptoms over the past year that although are unlikely to be STDs how about we wait 3 months and jointly test, compare notes and assess things from there. In the meantime, lots of restaurants, movies and good times. If she doesn't respect or see the sense in that, well...
