redness

For the past 6 months Ive had redness around the tip of my penis. Ive been to 4 doctors and they all think it thrush but using canosten hasnt made much of a difference. I have no itching, irritation or sores just the redness. When I make an effort to keep very clean the redness is controlled. I have been using salt water after the advise of one of the doctors and that seems to keep the redness in check but it does not stop it completely. The canosten again reduces the redness but does not stop it completely. Could it be something besides thrush? I have been to a sex clinic and tested for HIV and have been given the all clear (just to be safe). sometimes out of the blue the redness becomes worse but once I take a shower and clean up it always sort of goes away but as before not completely. besides thush what could this be? if it is thrush is there anything besides canosten I could use?

have you been tested for HSV?  there are a few of us men on this forum that have some continuing severe redness and inflammation of the urethra but have no explanation other then the positive HSV1 test.  from what i understand these are atypical for GHSV1 but then again HSV1 does not typically infect the genitals so the symptoms can vary.

This isn't herpes related. Follow-up with your doctor.
