soreness in thighs and buttocks after outbreak.

I know i already have a thread in this forum, but I have a somewhat unrelated question for anyone who might know.

I began what I presume to be my primary outbreak exactly two weeks ago (swab confirmed HSV2) I took Valtrex for 5 days and the sores healed in that time (7 days total). Since the sores have gone, i have been experiencing a strange soreness in my thighs and bum, like I've been sitting on a bench for too long. My vaginal area also still seems a bit more tender than usual. Is this normal, or is it psychological? If this does usually happen to people, what does it mean? Does it mean I'm still having an outbreak, is it viral shedding? Or is it prodrome for a new outbreak?  Or is this going to be permenant?

Doesn't mean that you aren't developing one now ( yeah it just sucks to be female sometimes ) so don't hesitate to follow up if any of the issues I mentioned start to occur.

To greatly simplify it - herpes makes the nerves a tad p.o.'d.  sometimes they don't settle down for a couple of weeks. The ibuprofen will help with the irritation and inflammation.

Thanks grace

Will the sore thighs and bum go away soon? Is it ever a symptom of prodrome? Do some people get outbreaks back to back? Maybe I'm just paranoid, sorry for all the questions.

When I was diagnosed with with HSV2 two weeks ago, they also did a urine test for bacteria as well as chlamydia and gonorrhea.  I just had a bad bladder infection (common for me), no sign of BV or anything else.

This is actually pretty normal with the first ob.  Unless you have a medical reason not to - take ibuprofen several times a day for a few days and see if that helps. Soaking in the tubby is also often helpful too.

If your genital area remains tender for more than a week from now or you get itchiness - see your provider to make sure you don't also have a vaginitis going on too. that is also quite common with the first ob.
