One time encounter?

Hello Community, I been searching for my chances of having this virus from a one time encounter.  I was seeing a girl for 7 months and we had unprotected sex once.  She said she doesn't think she has the virus (HSV 2) because she never had an outbreak but I know people tend to be asymtomatic. I too never experienced an outbreak and it has been 7 weeks since possible exposure.

About four weeks after exposure though I felt very ill, flu like, and had a swollen lymph node under my armpit.  I never had a swollen lymph node in my life and I am 26 years old. I also had very itchy burny armpits. I don't know if this is related or if I just got a weird random virus.  My legs felt tingly but I don't know if that was just because I thought I may have been infected and was over thinking things.

I got an HIV test and that was negative but will be doing one at the 13 week mark.  It was just sort of weird that I got sick and swollen lymph node in my armpit after exposure and never had a swollen lymph node before.

How long do I need to wait for a conclusive blood test for herpes (HSV 2)?

Thanks Community, Very Merry Christmas to you all~

Cool, Thanks for the information Fleetwood.  Yeah, I am not sure about her history unfortunately. Yeah, I been all itchy all over my body but I think it is just because I am thinking about having herpes.  For instance, when I was scared about having HIV I was not itchy at all, but then when I was scared I had herpes I got extremely itchy and self conscious about every tick and tingle.  Hopefully it is all in my head, but I will test at 12 weeks just to be sure with a future partner and such.  Thanks again Fleetwood,
cheers mate

The odds of any herpes transmission per encounter are very low. Of course, depending on where you live and other aspects such as background of your partner, there could be less than a 5% chance she even has genital herpes.

Nothing you describe suggests a genital herpes infection.

For herpes, wait for 12 weeks at least post the encounter and test for IgG antibodies type specific for HSV1 and HSV2.
