Zovirax is excellent for Herpes when used at the first sign of tingling or itchiness and pain.  It also helps ease the pain when you have an outbreak. It might also shorten an outbreak and heal quicker.  However, if it isn't used right away--it might not do much except soothe the lesions. Herpes outbreaks rarely last for more than a week.

If you had these symptoms for months, I doubt if you have herpes simplex--you might have shingles. Change your doctor and find someone responsible.

A bump that has been there for months is not due to herpes anyways so the cream would be useless. Of course the cream is also useless for genital herpes too so you have double the totally wasted your time and money going on :(

You need to find a different doctor to be seen by who knows what they are doing.
