23 yrs old, hypertension!

Hello
Thanks for taking time to view my post
I had hypertension diagnosed for 2 yrs ago, I started meds about a year and a half ago. Meds wasn't working or gave me bad side affects so they finally started me on losartan 100mg/hctz and spirolactone 25mg(twice daily) it's been running anywhere from 125-145/60-77 lately it's been 130's-140's/70-60s my top number(systolic) is always the high one. I have lvh(left venticular hypertrophy) with a thickness of 1.5 as of last year so I started meds for high Bp. My cardio appointment isn't for 3 more months because doc had an emergency so my visit got pushed way up. What should I do with numbers 130-140's resting? Why is it just my systolic? We've checked for 2ndary cause no reason yet

Hey,

I wouldn't be concerned with those numbers at all. I was recently diagnosed with hypertension, but since then has subsided due to lifestyle changes. I was taking a beta blocker for the hypertension and non obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but I really didn't want to be on any medication. I went 3 months in between my cardiologist visit without medication and my blood pressure was from 120-140/70-80. My cardiologist said he would not medicate me for that blood pressure, as it is just a high normal. I understand you are on medication though and it is still elevated.

I can't really help but I just wanted to share with you what my doctor though of my numbers, which are similar to yours. As for why it's just your systolic, that just means you have selective hypertension and your blood pressure is just high when your heart contracts, not when it is resting.
