What causes High Blood Pressure?

My husband has always been affected by pork, his face gets all red after he eats it and I am noticing this happening to our son who is only 8.  What causes high blood pressure are there certain foods that I should make sure they avoid?

Great feedback everyone, I really appreciate it, I am trying my best to learn as much as I can so I certainly appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge here.  So is it more so salt intake than it is meat?  I heard that you should stay clear of red meat, is this true?

I think your question is very good. We should find the relative element of the disease that we can prevent it or cure it. As far as i know,  the following factors that may draw more of your attention.

1. Age: incidence rates have increased along with the age and the trend of the high incidence, 40, or more.
2. Salt intake, much salt: high incidence of hypertension, think  20 g/day rates by 30%.
3. Weight: high incidence of obese people.
4. Genetic: about half high blood pressure patients have the family history.
5. Environmental and occupational: a noise work environment, of strain mental work all easy happened in the city of high blood pressure, high incidence of a disease is higher than in rural areas.
Hope that i help.

Thanks for your question. High blood pressure has many causes, but a few are key. First is the condition of your arteries. As they become stiffer with age or heart disease, they are not able to absorb the force of each beat which will increase your BP. Also, intake of too much salt helps your body retain fluids which increases your fluid volume which will also increase your BP so stay away from salted foods or soft drinks as they are loaded with sodium. Other outside influences like stress can also increase BP.

Unfortunately, sometimes the cause of HP is idiopathic, or has not direct cause.

Hope this helps,

Jon
