blood pressure

Last month I went to see a P.A.  They measured my blood pressure during my visit.  My blood pressure was 128/68.  Can you please tell me why I am consider pre-hypertensive?   I thought the lower number is the most important number.  I even heard that if the lower number gets to be around 90 then I should worry.

Agreed^. If it was just based on one reading, then there is no need to jump to a diagnosis or medication . Other factors could have made your reading seem higher than it normally is (being nervous, walking up stairs, etc.

Anything over 120/80 is considered to be pre-hypertensive. Only one number needs to be high. Your BP is still pretty good and one reading does not make a diagnosis, that takes several readings over 120/80 so I don't think there is any reason to get too concerned now. Just work with your doctor to help keep it from getting higher.
