Hysterectomy, Anxiety & Magnesium Citrate

Having a total hysterectomy on Tuesday.  I am SO nervous and have so much anxiety that if they could turn it into power, I think they could power the entire town I live in.  I have to drink the magnesium citrate and I don't know the best way to go about it (because I HATE things that taste bad) and I don't know how to calm myself down about the surgery.  I am 34 and my ex-husband got my two girls taken away from me (love Oakland County, NOT) and I feel like I am losing the only part of me that is still connected to them.  Anyone have any advice?

I had the abdominal surgery and did just fine. Yes, you will hurt but the meds will greatly help with that. They will also send you home with pain meds.
For 6 weeks try to do very little. No lifting, taking stairs or sex. You may feel very good but it takes your body this long to heal.
I think all of us that have this surgery go through a grieving process. I know I did. Thank goodness I was able to have my daughter before the surgery, and she has always liked being an only child.
We're here to help and support you anyway we can. Ask any question you want to and we'll try to do our best to answer it.     Remar

They have to cut me open.  So I guess my recovery is going to be a little bit longer (?).  The baby/child thing is really going to be hard.  I still have issues just because my girls are gone and both my pregnancies were REALLY hard.
Really looking forward to the wonderful beverage... nothing like a nice "cocktail" when all you really want to do is drink yourself into a stupor... lol
Thanks for answering, I wasn't sure anyone would bother.
This will be one medical problem down and about 100 more to go...  I'm 34 now, so I should be all fixed up by the time I die... lol.
Ugh,

I had my hysterectomy September of last year.  I got to drink the magnesium citrate.  Lovely tasting stuff (NOT)!  The best I can recommend is plug your nose and drink down.  I'm not sure what which procedure the doctor is going to use to perform.  I had mine via LAVH, Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy.  I really hurt for a solid week.  But after that, I started feeling sore but okay. I feel good now.

I do have days where I'll see a little baby, like newborn, and I'll feel a knot rise up in my gut.  It's like seeing the baby is a solid reminder, total slap in the face, that I'll never, ever have another baby for the rest of my life.
