need help

Hello, I had a compleat hysterectomy when I was 29 I am now 32. My dr. put me on enjuvia. Then the other day I had some test run and they told me that my estrogen levels are low. He wants to put me on Medroxprgesteron. So after the doctors I went home and looked up HRT its all so confusing and a little scary. I understand I'm going to be taking hormones for a long time. So my Question is, What is the best HRT. and safest?

The newest research suggests that some of the conclusions of earlier research were too broadly applied.  The first HRT research was done on women who had begun HRT long after they stopped having periods, and there was something about having ovaries that were long defunct and then starting up again with hormones that was not a good way to go, and this was generalized and extrapolated for all women.  But later research (and it's pretty new) has said that there are different, and better, results for younger women who have HRT that is to replace prematurely lost ovarian function.  I'd try to find that (the doctor I saw interviewed on the news about  the study was out of one of the research facilities in Seattle, I think) so you can see what kind of conclusions they drew.  They might tell about the kind of HRT that was being investigated, and they would certainly describe the population they studied.

Hi...First let me clear up something important , it is not a fact that you will be on hrt  for along time I was on it for just under a year. My symptoms stopped ( night sweats, hot flashes) so I stopped.

HRT is very very debatable. One thing for certain is insist on bio identical hormones. Its very normal that your levels are down . It often takes some trial and error to get the right hrt or combo hrt for ones body, I was lucky just needed estrogen used a patch ( these are nice, easy to use and you know your getting correct dose) I used Vivelle dot , its rather popular many find it is all they need.

Remember one very important thing. any medication you start you can also stop, Its a good idea to see a new branch of specialts called Nurse practioners that practice in a gynos office and advice on hrt as their specialty.
