Chronic UTI"S

I am a 53 year old female who has had 5 UTI's since Dec 09.When I finish all the antibiotics it comes back.  within 2 weeks. Dr. I drink at least 1 quart of water daily. I take cranberry pills,&wipe front to back. I have been on Vagifem since May, sex was painful & still is not like my younger days.  I do urinate after. Dr did say today if this comes back again she will send me in for a ultrasound. Any help would be most appreciated.

Have your family physician send you to a urologist for a cysto exam, I suffered with the same symptoms for years progressively getting worse before being sent at age 51. The cytoscopy discerned the lining in the bladder was virtually gone and I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. The only chemical medication for the condition only made me worse, I did a lot of research and found a herbal from Thialand that was recommended because of its natural property to stimulate cell re-growth and control of blood sugar. It's called "Banaba" and I've been on it for a year and a half with almost complete remission of the cystitis and the awful pain of UTI's.  I would love to get another cysto to see any improvement in the bladder lining.  Good Luck

when you take antibiotics right and you finish the course and the infection does not go a way or comes back soon after something else could be going on to cause them. Sounds like you are doing everything you can to prevent them also try urinate before sex and after. ask you Dr if she can put you on preventive antibiotics you take then everyday until they find the problem also ask for a referral to urologist the can help more they might suggest a cystoscopy to look in side the bladder and run other test that can pin point the problem
