-I was diagnosed with IBS syndrome. I'm one of those patients who can't take meds. I usually have the symptoms on the bottle that say call the doctor if this happens.
- I usually have to stay on a pureed diet, with not much sodium or oil. Pureed is easier to digest. Home made vegetable juice works well too. I got rid of my ulcer when I juiced. Now I make soup & then puree it.I put non gastric vegetables in my soup & chicken.I drink lots of water. My juicer broke down.
-I do eat fruits & salads & drink natural cranberry juice etc.
-I'm so nauseated all the time. Navel pain, back pain & pain under rib.
-I had problems with dirrhea, & gastric off & on for a few years. Always using antifungal or digestive aids & Kyo-Dophilus. Not knowing what was wrong with me.
-I know how you feel. I'm very discouraged too.
What I've found that helps me with IBS:
-Heather's Tummy Teas [Fennel loose tea are good. Helps with nausea.
-Heathers Tummy Fibers [Acacia Fiber] works also. Find them in health stores. Use Tummy Fibers very gradually. Call the company. The will help you!
-I have also found that organic rice pasta, & organic black rice I tolorate better.
-Those are also gluten free. I stay away from gluten, yeast, wheat, soy, & milk also.If I can stay away from sugar it helps.
-However, doctors will say to have more grains! That doesn't work for me.The idea of the  Tummy fiber is to build up to a tolorance to eating grains again. It's all new to me. If I eat normal grains, I don't tolorate them. I get constipated immediately.
-I have found that organic oat bran helps. I don't get constipated with that.I use about 1/4 cup with raisons & little of water uncooked. Tasts good.
-Small meals do work best for me. Several times a day.
-It was also suggested that I use fresh ginger root grated and simmered in water to drink for nausea. I'm trying it.
-I have urinary pain as well,so I have used UT synergy. A herbal med. Wonderful for urinary pain, but doesn't help other pain.I also use vinegar in my soup. It helps with urinary pain also.
-Some of medicines doctors give for IBS suggests they help abdominal spasms & urinary spasms. I don't take those. I've been afraid of them because of allergy to
Omeprazole.
Note: For those of you who may have a "high Parathyroid & high calcium levels"
check out Parathyroid.com.You may be interested to know that high levels of calcium can cause severe abdominal pain amoung other problems.
-I wish you all well. I'm still struggling. I keep surfing the web for answers. Take care!

i do have many of the symptoms, but the symptoms i experience can also be other ailments as well.......as for the anxiety.....i started having anxiety attacks while i was pregnant 2 years ago and they have progressed.....i have no insurance and the family doctor i had while i was preggo charges 150 bucks a visit not counting if any tests have to be done......so for now going to the doc is out of the question until i can get insurance or some type of medical aid. thanks for the input.....just trying to get a clear picture of what my symptoms are trying to tell me!!!!!!!!

hi
i dont think ibs  in itself is inherited, but many things that can minic ibs can be --as in celiac disease--lactose intorlance--thyroid problems-certain allergies etc-and maybe u could look into those
ibs qiute simply gives off the symptoms as the following

diarrhea with/without pain
constipation
constipation and diarrhea together with abdominal pain
trapped gas {painful}
erractic bowel movements {u would know if u had these}
swelling {distension} of the abdomen with wind
indigestion
there is generally no weight loss in ibs alltough most will try and find triggers and avoid certain foods which may inhibit the diet and cause weight loss.also most symptoms come on after eating so some eat a little.
anxiety and chronic stress play a big role in ibs in an otherwise healthy person.
spasms in the bowel which are very common in ibs will occur fron nerve involvement as the gut get's more and more sensitive to certain foods and the amount of food taken.
in most people most tests return neg as there is no damage to the bowel in ibs and there is no inflammation present .it is a syndrome that relates to the function or malfunction of the colonic wall and muscles of the bowel.
it is best diagnosed by a doctor{gastro} as to not not avoid a normal diet and in severe cases to rule out other organic diseases.
there are treatments available and most after a while will contain the symptoms with diet
and good eating practise and good stress techiques.
u also have people who get ibs for no known reason and 50% of people who present with ibs get it after a stomach bug/virus or if there is damage done to the flora{natural bacteria }of the bowel mainly through over use of anti-bioitcs/stress.this can be reversed through use of probioicts and digestive enzymes.

hows that
take care
