weight gain =less pain?

I've been told i have ibs and have suffered for 9 years and was wondering if anyone else has found that the larger you are the less pain you're in? I have tried every trick in the book to ease pain- from healthy eating, exercise (made things a million times worse) gluten free, dairy free, salt free , caffeine free etc- yet nothing worked the pain was so bad i lived on less than 1100 cals a day yet still pain. I have now after a lot of work started eating regularly and gaining lots of weight (which is not good as i am already a larger lady) and suffering from bloating but the pain has eased, and I'm getting less flair ups. I have realised that over the years the thinner i get the worse the pain is but, gaining weight helps :/ is this normal? I have had regular bowl movements for the last 6 years regardless of diet so I'm confused what is causing the pain and why does it ease the larger i am?

Hey stevieleigh90.

Weight gain eases your pain? Hmm.
Is it at all possible that you were deficient in key nutrients when
you were consuming less calories and being on weight loss diets etc?

Anyway, you may want to have your thyroid checked, because when your thyroid function is functioning below par, your body is going to tell you!
There are far too many symptoms associated with this.
Ask for Free T3, Free T4 and Reverse T3 tests, as the standard tests
only check for serum thyroid levels and not thyroid function, which matters most!
Bloating and gaining lots of weight, is definitely not a good thing in the long term, even if your pain has lessened.

Please consider the Thyroid testing and if you do, you're welcome to post again and I'll be glad to offer you more suggestions.

Wishing you well.
