64 yr old female with stage 3 CKD

I have been reading this and I had no idea I shouldn't be eating tomatoes. I love them, cucumbers too. I drink green tea and grape bottled water. in 2009 my b/p went up never had it b/f always on the low side. lab work showed egfr at 58 so Dr did a CT Angiogram which showed a 60 percent kidney artery blockage. I went to a vascular surgeon who said I shouldn't have had the contrast dye but too late for that now also said blockage wasn't nearly bad enough. Went back to my Dr he did more labs creatnine was 1.5 and egfr had dropped to 46. I had been taking lisinipril too. He took me off that and put me on Clonidine 3 X a day! next visit 1 month later nephrologist labs egfr was 37 6 months later it was 48 now it is staying around 40 every 4 months he says stable. Is there anything I can do to slow progression down or prevent ESRD? I am so frightened of dialysis!

starting taking Coq10 200 mg 2 x a day for 6 months and my GFR has increased to 48. Have you ever heard of this before?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? I understand your concern regarding your condition and risk of ESRD. For Stage 3 CKD, the aim is to reduce the  risks of progressive renal disease such as  cardiovascular events including proteinuria, hematuria of renal origin, declining GFR.  Healthy diet and lifestyle, as well as long term monitoring of renal function is indicated . Immunization with  influenza and pneumococcal as well as regular follow-up with your attending physician are recommended. Alternative techniques such as medication, yoga and other relaxation techniques may help. Stay positive and do keep us posted. Best regards.
