Doubt if anyone will respond to this but worth a try!!

Hiya, I am trying to find what is wrong with me.

I have for the past 5 months been suffering from blood (rbc's and wbc's) in my urine (microscopic) everyday. I also have right flank pain - constant dull ache but it has changed recently to a sharp pain a few times a day, nausea, decreased appitite, fatigue, fluid retention in abdomen and (most recently) decreased urine output (drinking about 2 litres a day passing 700mls). My urine is also very cloudy, has white 'stringy things' floating in it! and dark in colour.

I have had six lots of antibiotics, but have only had one infection found.

I have had ultrasound (negative), cat scan (negative) cytoscopy (negative).

I also had a blood test months ago and that was also ok apart from raised albumin.

The docs are now at a loss as to what it may be and my urologist (on Friday) said they don't want to see me for another SIX months.

I am now getting very upset and distressed about all of this - am i going mad??

They thought I may have a kidney stone which could have been causing an infection but this has been ruled out, as the ultrasound and cat scan came back negative.

My flank pain (between the last rib and top of pelvis) didn't hurt to touch but now I have pin pointed an area which is very tender.

Can anyone help??? Please.

Thanks so much for the replies.

I have, again, been to the gps today - and guess what I have yet another infection.  I knew I had an infection at the time I did the urine sample, so more antibiotics!!

Anway, they are going to redo the urine sample after the antibiotics - lets see if that changes anything (lol)!!!!

Thanks again and I will look at the link.

I have MSK and many of us have these exact unexplainable, or so the URO used to think symptoms!  Here is the link to the MSK support group and you might read through some of the posts, they might help you.

I would also encourage you to go to a pelvic pain PT.  Mine was amazing finding things the doctors missed for years!  She even manual broke up my adhesions

If there is blood in your urine, have the doctors ruled out kidney issues? What is your creatinine level? The higher the creatinine level the less your kidnies are doing their job of filtering out the toxins in your blood and removing fluids from your body. Depending on your primary MDs comfortability, you might suggest, based on the tests, whether a consult with a nephrologist would be a good idea. This is a kidney specialist. They will see if your issues are related to your kidney, or kidnies, or not. I agree with Kimemitch, you have to be your own advocate since you are at the whim of the medical realm to determine whether the issues you have are treatable or not. Good luck.

I wish I had an answer! I have had an ongoing on undiagnosed/ properly treated hypoparathyroidism and thryoid problems for at least 10 years.  I can tell you I stuck with doctors for way too long and found out after the fact that they weren't even close in helping me!  You aren't crazy, the medical community can be!! Don't give up!  Be your own advocate, keep copies of everything - especially all lab work. It also helps to work on keeping yourself calm, anyway you can! Mediation, reading, support groups etc. Stress made my problems worse, so take care of yourself while trying to figure out the puzzle! I wish you well!
