Bubbly Urine Negative Urinalysis and Culture

I used to drink a huge quantity of diet caffeine free soda on a daily basis.  I quit 3 weeks ago and since then, have had bubbles in my urine.  Also, there seems to be a film on the top as well.  The bubbles disappear after a few minutes but I still get them.  I had a negative culture and urinalysis and am really concerned.  My sis has kidney disease and one of the things the doc told her was "you noticed the bubbles in your urine, right?"  My urine definitely changed right after I quit drinking soda.  I drink water all day with 2 cups coffee in a.m.  My pc hasn't recommended any other tests, but says drink more water.  I drink 8-12 cups of water a day.  My urine flow is not very strong which could cause bubbles.  The only prob I have had in the past was urethral stenosis that was corrected.  I don't know if I should let this go; or approach the pc for additional tests.  If so, I don't know what to ask for!  I really concerned about this because of the same symptoms that my sister has.  Any advice?

Hi - In response to your questions; I'm positively not pregnant; 58 and many years post menopausal;  no other symptoms really.  I drink allot of water (between 8 and 12  8 oz glasses daily) so I urinate allot.  No pain or blood in urine but always bubbles.  My urine stream is any stronger than before so I don't think that is the cause of the bubbles.  It's been about 1 month now since I quit drinking soda and the bubbles persist.  The primary care didn't recommend any further testing so how long should I wait before going back to persue the issue?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
HI,
What other symptoms are present?  understand your concern regarding your symptom. Bubbles in urine can be physiologic such as in mild dehydration or rapid urination and pregnancy. It can also be due to infection, proteinuria, or fistula.  If it persists, further evaluation may need to be done and additional diagnostic tests may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
