I just hope they can figure out what's going on. I have been through so much since February. Ct's, MRI's, endscopy, colonscopy I mean you name it. I am so tired of going to the doctor.

Hi.  I am a 29 year old female.  I had this procedure done a few weeks ago due to microhematuria.  I was really scared but it wasn't a big deal.  When they put it in it didn't hurt, it just kind of felt like I really had to urinate.  Sort of like a urethra spasm.  While the scope was in the doc filled my bladder and then I had to empty it into a special toilet that monitored my flow.  After that they did an ultrasound of my bladder to see if it was emptying properly.  It did burn slightly when I began urination for about 12 hours. I had uti's that were worse than that.  I also had a ct scan and a urine cytology and I never found a cause for the microhematuria.  I hope you do well with your procedure and your stones.  Keep us posted.

If the stones are stuck somewhere in your urinary tract, they may present as  intense pain, pain in the back, bloody urine, cloudy/smelly urine, repeated urge to urinate, or a burning sensation throughout urination, fever and chills. Kidney stones are generally passed out of the body inside 48 hours, but, on occasion attacks can last for more than 30 days. It is very important to rule out the diagnosis of cystitis where in symptoms include pain on urination, urgency to urinate, and increased frequency of urination OR pyelonephritis which presents with fever, pain in the lower back or flanks, nausea and vomiting, or shaking chills.
Keep us posted. Take care.

Yeah I have two children. My symptoms, right flank pain, vomiting, fever and chills. They saw the stones on the xray and ct but said they were too big to pass, now the stones didnt appear on the xray last week. So where did they go. The doc said I would have known if I would if I would have passed it. I think they are stuck somewhere or something. I go on the 14 of July and I am not being put to sleep so I take it as it will be nothing.

How are you? Cystoscopy is a procedure usually performed by a urologist that allows the physician to see the inside of the lower urinary tract (urethra, prostate, bladder neck, and bladder). It may be performed in a physician's office, under local anesthesia, or as an outpatient procedure, under sedation and regional or general anesthesia. During the procedure, the cystoscope, which can be flexible or rigid and is about half the diameter of the urethra, is slowly inserted into the urethra to the bladder. A camera may be attached to the cystoscope to allow images to be viewed on a monitor. Cystoscopy usually takes from a few minutes to about 20 minutes to perform. If the physician removes a stone, or sample of tissue, the procedure may take longer. After the procedure, fluid is drained from the bladder and a catheter may be left in the bladder. Usually, burning during urination or blood in the urine may be observed after and will resolve within hours to days.  Patients usually can go home immediately following the local anesthesia procedure while patients require a recovery period (usually 1 to 4 hours) if regional or general anesthesia is used. You can read more about what to expect through this link: http://www.urologychannel.com/diagnostictests/cystoscopy.shtml

I hope tis helps. Take care and keep us posted.

I had to have this done as a child, but was put to sleep to have it done (I was 3).  Now, I also have to have it done on the 1st.  Even though I don't really remember much about it as a child, I'm not worried.  My doc said that it's not a big deal, it's done in the office, they won't put me to sleep.  He made it sound like an internal ultrasound like what we women sometimes have to have when we're pregnant.  I had to have one of those too.  I think it'll be somewhat uncomfortable, but if you've had children, I don't really think it'll be a big deal.  I asked him if my husband would need to come with me to drive me home, and he said no....so it can't be too bad.

I've never had stones, but have always had blood in my urine due to a blood vessel that emptied into my bladder as as child.  However, now there is LOTS of blood in my urine.  Can you tell me some of the symptoms of stones.

Good luck and I hope all goes well.
