Mass

Last month, I had an ultrasound done on my abdomen. Two days later, I was called by the nurse. When I returned the call, they asked me if I had any kidney symptoms. I hadn't been focusing on that, as my problem at the time was g.i. related (I thought), so I said no. So, she went on to tell me that my US was normal. Fast forward 4 weeks, and now I have been told that I have a mass on my right kidney. I have always had back pain, but I am on my feet for 8 hours a day. I have noticed that when I need to use the bathroom, if I have to wait, I do get pain in my back. I thought it might be a sign that my kidney was protesting, but I didn't think anything more than that. The mass is considered benign at this point, but from what I've read, there's no sure fire way to tell without biopsying. I am coming up on 10 years since a thyroid cancer diagnosis, so I am concerned. I also think that now, in the last 2 days since I was told about the mass, I am far more aware of any little twinge. I will be seeing my endo next month, my primary care md is out on maternity leave, but I am also going in at the end of this month for genetic testing..... uterine and breast cancers run in the family. Any suggestions, thoughts, experiences, would be really helpful right now. I'm trying to ignore my fears, but it's not easy!!

All I have so far is that it's a 3cm "mass".

What's the diagnosis, since they are calling it benign?  What did they call it?
