kidney pain

this only seems to happen in winter. i have fsgs (filters do not work), and i get a constant ache in my back and then every day i will get at least 2 sharp pains that run from my back right through to my front. it hurts so much, i am in tears most days. the ache will last all winter, sometimes getting worse, depending on how cold it is.
my specialist does not believe me. i keep getting told that kidney disease does not cause pain. but it does. well for me anyway, does anyone else suffer from this.

There could be many causes for the pain you are experiencing. But as the pain starts at the back and goes down to the front of the abdomen, it could most probably be a renal colic. This happens when urine is trying to pass through an obstruction usually a stone. But this pain is very severe and colicky. This can sometimes be missed by imaging studies if very small. Pain can also be there in infections or inflammation of the kidneys, but this is a constant dull ache. Other causes for pain could be peptic ulcer disease and GERD. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor.

I am 50 and have rapid progression of kidney disease, now hovering stage 4. Was only stage one a year ago!!! I have much pain and have read that CKD does not cause pain. i saw my nephrologist last week and asked her. She assured me IT DOES NOT cuase pain.  She told me the pain is likely from so much surgery ie had bladder removed.
My pain is very localised right in the kidney area. Yours spreads which sounds a bit like a stone on the move
