Passing Kidney Stone

This last week I just went through the wonderful experience of what I believe was a kidney stone. The pain was excrutiating. I could pretty much follow where the stone was by the location of the pain as it travelled from midway between my rib and pelvis all the way to my pubic bone area all over the period of 3.5 days. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I have been straining my urine for that time period as well but it's only when I believe the obstruction went into the bladder (when the pain subsided) that I expected to "collect" anything. Yesterday I did but it wasn't a stone. It was more of a dark "rusty" brown flecks of sediment type material that for the lack of a better word had the cosistency of mud. Not a lot but has been coming a little each time for the last half dozen urinations.

My question for the great intellect here is 1. What could this be? and 2. It's not  a stone so would it be possible for the physician to analyze? Maybe the actual stone is still in the bladder but so far no sign of it and I haven't had any pain for a couple of days.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, yes male. You could be right about the "mud".  I initially went to the GP to get something to relieve the pain and she thought it was likely a kidney stone and we'd give it a few days to resolve itself which it did. I'd sure like to catch that stone though to find out it's composition.

I think I read somewhere that a stone can literally bounce around in the bladder for weeks before being expelled.

i'm guessing by the "rob" that you are male.  and my understanding is that males can feel the stone coming down the urethra after it comes out of the bladder. but i could be wrong.

i would guess that the rusty mud is probably old blood that your body is flushing out.

but my suggestion would be to call your primary care physician and tell them about it.  they should be able to give you an idea of what it is and what to expect.
