MSK or PKD or Both?

Back in Feb.2012 I was told I have Medullary Sponge Kidney ( MSK ) with Cortical thinning of the left Kedney and my right Kideny is inlarged just a little. My Question is Could I have Both MSK and PKD?
I have cysts in Both kidneys but what i have read It seems to me that thats what PKD is ,the problem is I don't know anyone in my family with PKD or MSK!
I cant find a Doctor that Knows anything about either one of these diseases. Neph doctor or a urologiest in Oklahoma.
I had two differant ultrasounds both confirming I have MSK. This is horrable. I am in pain 90% of the time.
could I have PKD? I mean since I have cycsts?  I do have kidney stones but they are mostly sand or crystals.
any help would be nice.

Oh I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I have only been treated for MSK! I was just wondering if it could be PKD not MSK. My nephro and urologist say they don't know how to treat MSK. It's rare! Not enough research has been done as of yet. I haven't seen a doctor about PKD because they say it's MSK

I find that both strange and disturbing that you are unable to find a doctor that doesn't know about those diseases. PKD is common and at least should be to a nephrologist. If a nephro does not know about pkd then I would check his credentials as a doctor and also his or her qualifications. msk could be the cause of the cysts. The cysts themselves could be categorized as pkd. Really Pkd if just a name given for having cysts in your kidneys.  Much as nephrotic syndrome is a name for having certain symptoms. From the sound of it you need to be seen by another neprhologist. The one you are going to doesn't sound like he knows what he is doing. See if you can get in to another doctor soon.
