I am a 22 year old female and I have been getting UTI's for 5 years now!! They happen once every few months.. a few years ago I was told that I had a 7mm cyst in my right kidney and just recently it is 9.3mm... My doctor says that the cyst has nothing to do with the uti's but I have pain in my right lower side constantly! My doctor still does not know why I am getting frequest uti's.... help please!!!

Hi!!

I have been seeing my urologsit for the past year and he still does not know why i am getting them.. I had a ultra sound,  a cat scan and I go for a MRI in a week..  My cyst has almost doubled in size but my urologist seems to think it has nothing to do with me getting the uti's.. a bit strange to me.. I usually get a uti around my period... If my urologist can't figure out why i am getting these all the time after my mri he is considering me a "challangeing" patient .. which means I have to go to another doctor for this... My pain on the right side is still there.. deff. feels like I pulled something but i didnt.. I try stretching and nothing seems to help.. Hope your doing better!!

Hello i too am having alot of UTI's ive been having them for the last 10 yrs , i just recently got over one , but i have been having left flank pain, side and front pain (all on left side) my doc sent me to get a cat scan done but i havent heard anything back yet as to if he got the results , but i do have another apt. on feb 3rd . so the doc can recheck to see if istill have blood in my urine and to see if the infection is completely gone . i dont know if you are experancing the same pain but on your right side !  when i lay flat on my back i can feel a lump feeling towards my waist line just right below the ribs . and sometimes when i lay flat i can feel a pressure feeling in my flank area . and also when i sit and if i lean towards the left a lil i  get pains shooting all through my flank area, side and front . almost like im leaning on something and its causing the pain. Anyways from what ive been reading i heard the cysts can carry infections is that a possiblty that maybe thats why we get them so freq. because the cysts maybe burst or something? i know i have had a few cysts the first one was on my right side of my breast when i was 13 it got  so big they had to drain it , and i also had a 1cm cyst on my right ovary ,but when i found out  over 3 yrs ago i had fibroid tumors in my uterus that where the size of oranges he said  that i had a cyst  on my left ovary . but 2 yrs ago i had to have a hysterectomy done cause of those tumors . but as far as i know my ovaries are still in tact . and my thought was and my gyn thought was of me having the flank pain that the tumors where causing it cause they were so big . so i put it off thinking maybe thats why i had those pains well its been a total of 3 yrs  now since having this pain in my left quadrint area . and i was always told it was a muscle thing. Well i beg to differ on that one lol . its no muscle pain , its like it comes in waves and they are sharp as heck too ! but i always have a constant feeling of something being in there that shouldnt be !  anyways sorry for going on and on about my problems...

Have you been to a urology or a nepherolgist ? i think i spelled that wrong lol . anyways i would ask for a referl to see one and see what exactly is going on . because my thinking is that there had got to be some reason as to why you are constantly  getting these utis
please write back and let me know or email me !  hope i was of some of help !

take care .. 2young
