do i need a urologist?

I been having pain in my right side around my kidney area. Went to see my doctor and they did tests to see whether or not i had some sort of infection. All the tests were negative but a had an ultresound done and they found a spot a little larger than a marble. She didint seem to be concerned about it but kindey disease and cancer runs in my family. Should i be concerned and have more testing done and is a urologist what i need?

Hi,

How are you? Are there other signs or symptoms present? Kidney pain is typically felt in the flank area and  tends to be sharp, severe and occur in waves. This may be due to kidney stones or infection.   If it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated by a nephrologist or kidney specialist.

Take care and keep us posted.
