Relationship b/Falling GFR level and ibuprohen use

I just found out that I have a GFR score of 70and protein in urine but normal creatinine score of .85.  I had knee surgery a year ago and have been taking approximately 400 mg of ibuprohen daily for pain.  Can this be a temporary toxicity to the pain med with a return to higher level of my GFR upon cessation?

Praying in Texas!

Fran

Good news!  I had blood work last Thursday.  After a GFR of 74 just 6 weeks ago my GFR had returned to 95 after stopping ibuprohen which I had been taking for one year.   I started taking turmeric which I believe has helped my recovery as well.  Thanks for the hope you gave me last month!

Stop the ibuprofen! No NSAIDS if you have a lower GFR. You didn't say your age but yes it is possible kidney function will return to normal with stopping the meds. Ibuprofen is hard on kidneys. Drink lots of fluids and I would see a nephrologist also.
