Ask your doctor to explain it to you.
If the results found anything untoward, you would have been told about it.
As it is, the blood work came back normal. Hence there is nothing to be concerned about.
Are u sure??
Do I need any further testing????
It means everything is normal.
Due to severe anxiety about leukemia, I did a peripheral blood smear test, the result came back normal with "no atypical wbc seen "
what does it mean?
thanks dear thanks a lot :)
Concentrate on getting better from the Chicken Pox.
Follow the advice I gave you with regard to eating healthily and drinking plenty of fluids (not alcohol).
It seems that you are a type of person that worries and gets stressed out a lot. Your doctor can help you with this. There are lots of different strategies to help to cope with anxiety and the breathing techniques I mentioned earlier will help you with that.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
is it
thanks man , u really helped me a lot
i know all this issues are arised due to my over anxiety about ma health....
i want to over come this anxiety
then everything will be fine i think
Having Chicken Pox at your age can take longer to recover than if you were a child.
Do bear in mind that when people have had chicken pox, the virus will lie dormant in your body. If the virus gets reactivated again (no one knows when this can happen and why it happens), it then causes shingles.
You are still not completely recovered from the Chicken Pox and that is highly likely to be reason for the wbc being raised. In which case your doctor is correct in saying that the reason your wbc blood results are raised because your body is fighting a virus. Chicken pox is a virus.
If the doctor suspected any problems with those blood levels, you would have been sent for further testing.
Try and relax and occupy your mind with something more constructive.
do are u sure that am not affected with leukemia , i asked the same question in healthcaremagic.com and doctor said , wbc is slightly high because of chicken box infection and it will be back to normal with in weeks , no need to consult any other doctors...
and like u he also assured that its not leaukemia
but my anxiety and mind dont accepting any of these answers
thats the main problem :(
In most leukemias, wbc is in the 20,000 to 100,000 range. To rule out leukemia however, the doctor does not look at the wbc but at what the white cells look like microscopically.
are u sure ????
am very high in health anxiety
i cant concentrate anything other than my health
its really worrying me alot
:(
Mathew, stop worrying. 17 doctors should be enough to convince you.
When blood is tested, often there is something outside of what is considered "normal parameters".
In case wbc is above normal (and in your case it is only slightly above normal), an infection is often the cause. It should normalize within a few weeks.
Get your blood tested again in a few weeks.
i was suffered with chicken pox for the last 2 weeks and doctor gve me strong medicine ( 1gm tablets , thrice a day for 6 days )
now am, fully recovered from chicken pox
but today i checked cbc and white clood count is 11900 ( normal range is 4000-11000)
all my other values like haemoglobin , platelet, eosonophills, polymorphs ,basophils lymphocytes , monocytes ,rdw, mchc, pltelet count , mpv , rbc ,hct ,rbc, mcv, mch are normal
olnly this wbc is slightly higher the normal range
do i need worry about leukemia ????
cau u please tell me the wbc count for leukemia patients ?
I presume that you did tell the doctors that you are concerned that you may have leukemia.
Many doctors have examined you and one doctor has said that the high blood level was due to a viral infection. No antibiotics will help with viral infections.
You are over anxious worrying unduly about your health. The condition is called hypochondria.
With a viral infection, you will feel unwell and it will take time to start to feel well again. To help yourself, you should eat a healthy and well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Drink plenty of fluids. 2 litres of water a day is usually recommended, more if you sweat a lot.
Cut out or cut down your consumption of sugary, processed and junk foods as well as fizzy drinks and alcohol.
Take up a hobby or meet friends, go for walks in the fresh air and do some physical activity.
You can also do breathing exercises to help you with your stress and anxiety. Breathe slowly through your nose to the count of 4 and then breathe out again slowly through your mouth to the count of 4.
If you do still feel unwell after a few weeks doing all you can to relax and eating healthily, do go back to your doctor. Keep a record of any symptoms that you get. Do bear in mind that stress and anxiety can also make you feel unwell.
