I'm not sure what it could be. Sometimes when I'm feeling really run down or under the weather, I can feel my lymph nodes too. It's almost a pulsing ache, mostly under my arms and in my groin. I mentioned it to my oncologist at the last check up and he didn't think it was anything to worry about. My guess is they are reacting to some sort of infection.
Thanks for keeping me up with responding my post. Got a letter from my doctor and all was oki but slightly elevated alat and alp. The last days been terrible with pain in my lymphatic system throughout the body. Like its pressing. The best i can describe it. Like the pain when you have earinfection. Groin, stomach, neck, and right collarbone the most. Soon be 8 months now. What the heck is my body fighting. ?? I been having daily unprotected sex with my wife all these months so i doubt its infectious. Could it be a reactivation of some sort? I've had both EBV and CMV in the past.
I'm glad to hear that the doctors don't think it's cancer. That is great news. I imagine it is still frustrating to not really know what is going on, but hopefully you will get more answers soon.
Thanks for the update.
Thanks for reply. Did not take a biopsy but the specialist assured me that I don't have cancer in my blood. All my numbers are oki except my lymphocytes. Slightly raised and i can feel activity in my nodes. The last blood test was in the hospital so it has the 2 biggest lab in the country. The test was liver enzymes, LD , coagulation and a test of the blood where they put a drop on a glass and can look at the cells in a microscope. According to the specialist and docs and radiologist my nodes are not swollen but reactive for some reason. My doc put it to mono reactivation. I dont know..hope i get the last tests answers soon. If they are oki my specialist say to let it go and it will fade away.
Sorry it's taken a while for anyone to comment, but I just wanted to touch base and see if you've found anything out since you last posted? Interpreting blood test results can be complicated and should only be done by someone with a medical background, therefor, I will refrain from trying. 7 months seems like a pretty long time to have swollen nodes, but I can tell you that most swollen nodes due from blood cancers are typically painless.
I'm assuming the specialist took a biopsy of one of your lymph nodes and sent the sample off to a pathology lab to be analyzed. It really depends on a number of things to know about how long it will take to get a diagnosis. If the lab is local, it could take a few days, but if it's out of town it could take longer. Sometimes the local lab will forward the samples to another, larger lab for a second opinion. Unfortunately, this all takes time. And yes, with a biopsy they should be able to determine if it's malignant or not.
Good luck and I hope you keep us posted with your results.
I will be very happy for comments and help. And by the way. My Gp says that the specialist will look at my lymphocytes under a microscope for see in detail what they are responding to. Does that take long time? Will that determine if its viral or cancer?
