Complications that occur during pregnancy
Women who have been diagnosed with liver hemangioma face a risk of complications if they become pregnant. The female hormone estrogen, which increases during pregnancy, is believed to cause some liver hemangiomas to grow larger. A growing hemangioma can cause signs and symptoms and may require treatment.
Having a liver hemangioma doesn't mean you can't become pregnant. However, discussing the possible complications with your doctor can help you make a more informed choice
I have liver hemangioma since 2004. Hemangioma are benign and congenital. I underwent liver embolization procedure last September 2008. Interventional Radiologist did the procedure. It blocked the veins direct to the tumor. I had 2 ultrasound guided liver biopsy also and it was all benign. Pain will always be a part of our daily lives if we did'nt take care of ourselves. We must have our excersice like walking and eat non fatty foods. Monitoring is also required every 6 months by means of ultrasound. There's no cure yet for this illness but pain reliever. Research about liver hemangiomas on utube. you can see liver embolization procedure. Right now I,m in pain. I just use painkiller tablet to lessen the pain. Tha pain stay but not very painful when you don't take painreliver. Medicines over the counter is a no no to liver hemangioma patients. Antibiotics too are limited. Well that's what my GI did to me.
From the little I know liver hemangiomas are not usually symptomatic. When they are large or located next to another organ there can be pain and nausea. I wouldn't think a 9 mm hemangioma would be considered large and I have no idea of its location.
I have no idea whether this could affect pregnancy
In short, I don't know much at all about your situation but, if I were you, I would definitely follow up with either a gastroenterologist or hepatologist.
Good luck,
Mike
