Basically your liver doesn't feel pain, at least that's what your doctors will tell you. But some of the infrastructure in the liver, like your bile ducts, etc can become blocked and inflammed which causes pain. But this would showup in the blood work.
If you were drinking for a long period, you may have developed fatty liver which may or may not elevate your blood work. It will enlarge your liver though to various degrees. And this packaging issue may cause pain on your right side where the liver and ribcage contact each other.
And the final issue is adhesions which can pop up randomly throughout your abdomenal region.
But given the clean blood work with continued pain, I'd press your doctor to at least do an ultrasound for piece of mind. This would eliminate the enlarged liver and also the possibility of liver lesions. It's cheap and non-invasive. Take care.
Thanks for you comments. It looks like an ultrasound is in my future. Oddly enough most of my pain in now in my right side. I also just got my third straight clean labs.
