Thanks Mike for the feed back. its the waiting that Im having a problem with the not knowing. its nice to communicate with someone that you can say how you feel and not have to worry.
I think the liver specialist's reaction was quite appropriate and very encouraging.
This type of thing happens all too often. I had a bad PCP and I got into serious trouble. The problem is - unless you're sick you really have no idea whether you have a good doctor or a bad doctor. And people get comfortable with their doctors and don't want to leave and see another. Once you get sick it's clear and it's easy to leave and seek better care.
Good luck,
Mike
We s went to see the liver MD and he wa very upset he states they never told him about this appt so he had no information on my husband and he will call us next week after he looks over everything. also he was upset that we have been dealing with this liver for about a year and this is the first time we were sent to see someone in his dept.
Just to let you know we saw my husbands MD she was very short and rude . dealing more with other health concerns then when I did ask her if it was cancer she said no that is why Im send you to see the specialist. and never another word , so I hope will will be met with a kinder soul when we go on the 6th of May. I know everyone has bad days but she just shut us right up.we were afraid to ask anymore questions.
Let's hope for the best!
I don't visit here often so I hope I don't miss your next post.
thank you I will keep you posted as his appt with primary is friday and Gastr is May 5th.
If he's been experiencing these problems for year, it sounds like his PCP is dragging her feet. A visit to a Gastroenterologist is in order to analyze his stomach issues.
And include a test of his bilirubin. High bilirubin accounts for severe itching and leads to jaundice. Also tell the doctor if his urine is dark in color.
he also has been experiecing a lot of stomach problem nauseated and not able to eat certain things . I have the list of things you suggested to take to the MD and suggest she orders these if she hasnt., even with the FHN are these symtoms common? he has also for past year complained of itching all over but no jaundice noted.
It sounds like the diagnosis you were given is focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH). FNH is a condition in which a nodule, composed of a central scar tissue and clumps of surrounding liver cells, is found within an otherwise healthy liver. The size of the nodule in FNH can vary in size.
What happened on the old lesion? Is it still there? Has it grown? Is the doctor being proactive by ordering a Constrasted CT Scan on the liver? This will provide a much clearer picture than a ultrasound can. A liver biopsy? This will tell you the health of the liver. A liver panel blood tests that includes an Alpha Feta Protein (AFP) test? The latter is used as a cancer marker. Ask for referral to an Hepatologist, a liver specialist.
