liver disease and birth control

My sister recently had a left sided stroke at the age of 24 a few days before Christmas 2015. She has cirrhosis of the liver and her ammonia levels are very high.she has jaundice and is very confused. She has a birth control implant in her arm. Should the implant be removed? Could it be harming her liver even more? Could the implant be the cause of her stroke?

Hello as FNTN said she is so young, I am so sorry.  I had no idea that the liver could be damaged at such a young age.
Looking at the big picture the most important thing is for her to quit drinking.  I don't know how possible that is since she kept drinking even after turning yellow.
You are a good sister for trying to find all the information you can.  I applaud you for that.  Everything we eat drink, put on or in our body has to be processed by the liver. So I would think anything she can do to improve her health would be a positive.

The primary cause of her cirrhosis is heavy drinking.  Her doctor told her to limit her drinking in 2012 because she had hepatitis (eating raw sea food). She continued to drink throughout the years. when her eyes and skin turned yellow again, she ignored it and continued to drink with the jaundice. In November, she went to the ER and that's when they told her she had liver failure. A few weeks later, she went back to the hospital because of bleeding in her stomach. During this hospital stay, she received a blood transfusion and was given anesthesia so they can look inside of her stomach. When she woke up from her surgery, she was extremely tired for days then she fell in to a deep sleep. She had multiple seizures and a few days later, the neurologist told us she had a large stroke. When she woke up from her very deep sleep, she could control her body but still have uncontrollable movements. The breathing tube was removed 3 days ago. Her speech is decent but I think she has aphasia because she cant say certain things. Yesterday, I asked her how old she was, she said 11yo but she is 24. I really do think her birth control implant is effecting her. I told my mom about it but the nurses are just saying everything is because of her liver. I really believe this implant need to be removed

Yes, the implant can cause additional harm. But your sister is already dealing with a very serious disease. To have cirrhosis of the liver, at such a young age , is very uncommon. Has her doctors told you what the primary cause is of her liver disease? This is very important, as you already know, since you are looking for more data - and this is wonderful since she will need as much help as possible.
