Thank you for you info. I live in Canada where the health system *****. It took almost 2 ys for my dr to refer me to a dermatologist and the earliest appointment is in june. How frustrating! Now Ill see how many years it will take to see a lyme specialist (if thereis any).
Norevam,
Steve1906 posted that message almost two years ago, and I don't know if he still checks in here -- I don't recognize the name, but then my memory isn't the greatest.
I have read that Lyme likes to take over your endocrine system, affecting thyroid and other aspects that control body temp. I would suggest you see a Lyme specialist, because other MDs often do not know much about Lyme and other tickborne diseases.
A Lyme specialist (sometimes called a 'Lyme-Literate MD', or LLMD) can be any kind of MD (interist, GP, endocrinologist, etc.), it just has to be someone with a particular interest in and understanding of Lyme+.
One treatment that Lyme+ patients have trouble with is steroids llike cortisone, which suppress your immune system, which (if you have Lyme+) is already struggling to fight the disease. I would NOT stop your meds, but I would suggest you find an LLMD for an evaluation, if you are concerned you might have Lyme.
The ILADS [dot] org has a lot of information, some of it very scientific and not necessarily patient-oriented, but it's the main website for LLMDs and those who agree with them. I've also recently found a website called ItsAboutLyme [dot] org, and on the right side of the home page are links to other Lyme organizations that can perhaps help you locate an LLMD in your area.
Some of us here get chills like you do, and it seems to be related to Lyme+ suppressing thyroid and other functions. My chills come and go, but it's different for everyone. That's part of what makes diagnosis difficult -- the disease looks different in each of us.
Good luck, and let us know what happens.
OMG I have the same thing. I feel cold all the time, during the day I wear sweaters and its hard to get sleep cause im shivering. Also i have rashes that come and go and those cortisones seem not to be working! and yes, they stay! I dont know if the rashes and feeling cold are related. Because im a girl, my dr (not a great one) says the shivers are due to anemia. You said you bleed but i dont think its that much. I have the feeling my dr isnt right. I havent gone for lyme d. check tho . Ill mention it to my dr. Any suggestions?
