What type of treatment did your husband get two years ago?

As you likely know, medical opinion is divided on the testing, diagnosis, and treatment of Lyme.  If your husband got treated by mainstream doctors, the treatment may have been insufficient.  You may want to consider researching the professional society ILADS (easy to do an internet search to find their homepage) to learn more about the alternative opinion that Lyme can be a complex and chronic condition that is difficult to treat.

Also, ticks carry more than just the bacteria that causes Lyme.  Other tick-born infections, often referred to as "co-infections" include Bartonella, which does have foot pain like what you describe in your husband as a symptom.  Not all co-infections respond to the same antibiotics as Lyme, so a person can actually be cured of Lyme but still very sick from co-infections from the same tick.

Many Lyme patients experience the dismissive attitudes of mainstream doctors who simply don't believe that we are still sick, and will often assign lazy labels, such as anxiety or depression, or even vague autoimmune illness labels, to those still sick from Lyme and tick borne infection.  It can take some effort to find an ILADS-physician, but it can be worth it to explore other treatment options.

Let us know if you need help in moving forward with more research or doctor seeking.

Wonko said it all.

I see you're in upstate NY ... that's definitely Lyme country (as is most everywhere, but there are areas where it's particularly common, including your area, so I understand.)
