Being a dog owner, and I also used to work at and did freelancing works for animal hospitals, what I can tell you, like others, talk to your vet.
What I found to be helpful is giving dog chicken broth (beef will do too) as it is tasty and helps to keep dog hydrated.
If the dog continues to vomits or losing a lot of fluids, sometimes a special fluid formula (high in electrolyte) from the Vet is needed, and in the extreme cases, dog will need to be hospitalized (for a day or overnight) so he can placed on IV fluid (i.e lactated ringers) .
Hope your dog is doing better by the time you read this.
Should have mentioned that having been a dog owner all my life, the pills are usually dissolved by an hour.
I would call the vet today. Dogs are so different from humans that I would hesitate to make any correlation between the two.
Hi,
I know nothing about Lyme disease in dogs but from a human point of view, your dog should still be keeping the medicine even when throwing up since it should be dissolved by then. I vomit a lot and as long as its not soon after the meds, my Lyme doc said its ok. As for the not eating, that is a normal human Lyme response for some. If I were you, I would check it out with the vet to be sure. Good luck!
