LLMD recommendations in CO

Hello! I was just diagnosed with Lyme disease, though I know I've had it for four years.

Looking for a LLMD in Colorado and would deeply appreciate suggestions.

Also have questions about treatment. Doxy seems to be the go to antibiotic from what I've read, but will it be effective when lyme has had 4 years to develop in my body? And what dosage would I need? Some people say 200mg/day, but I've seen others say you need 400mg.

Thanks in advance!

I have read that doxy is less effective (and sometimes *not* effective) when the infection is more than very, very recent, because the Lyme bacteria have the ability to hide in slimy shields they create in the body, so the immune system can't locate them.  A doctor might give you doxy with a 'cyst-busting' antibiotic like flagyl, but from what I've read, doxy is useful mostly in a very early infection, and other meds are used in a later infection.  Your doc can guide you.

I've been looking too. I live in Wyoming and requested info on doctors nearby. I received info on 2 in Colorado and 1 in Montana. I haven't seen any of them yet. Good luck.

Hi. The best way to find an LLMD is to contact ILADS.org and email them. They will send you names in your area. Another way of course is to google.

Doxy is something I used even though I got bit over 20 years before. It made a big difference. The dosage is 200 MG twice a day. You will also need a cyst buster drug for when the bug goes into cyst formation. Flagyl and tindamax are the usual choices.
