There are some phytochemicals in coffee that borrelia and some of coinfecting microvermin wouldn't much like. Caffeine, chlorgenic acid, eugenol, and others that have an antibacterial effect.
Psst ... having a baby has those effects too. ;) I think it's Mother Nature's way of keeping us tuckered out so we don't wander away from the baby and go out disco dancing. Ha.
Yes. I was a big coffee drinker. I was stubborn and still had it too often when I was sick with Lyme, and would suffer adverse effects such as feeling more tired (instead of getting a boost in energy) and sometimes getting bad anxiety issues from it, which I never had before.
Lyme knocks you down pretty hard, you may find yourself far less resilient and less able to push yourself.
I'm "recovered" from Lyme disease now, but have never been able to return to drinking as much coffee as I used to, and in general need to be more careful about keeping a good balance between rest, work, and food.
I don't do coffee, so I haven't run into this, but just now searched online for
--- caffeine lyme disease ---
and whoa were there a bunch of hits. Seems that lyme and caffeine don't mix. That just gives you another reason to get well. :)
