Hi Kate, I have had LD for almost 28 years and have seen so many doctors and have been on so many PC that i have lost count. The one thing that was made my symptom bearable is colloidal silver. I have only been taking it for a couple of weeks but it has made a difference. Another thing you might want to consider is have your DNA tested for mutations. http://www.dramyyasko.com
Many people with Lyme do not get better because they have detox or immune issues and until these are addressed it is like a cat chasing its tail. I make my own CV with an old microwave oven(high voltage AC current) The low voltage battery type CV did not work for me but the high voltage did. I think the mutations are the secret to treating LD. The 500 bucks for the testing is well worth the money and it will also tell you about some other health issue you have and are not even aware of.Good luck. This disease comes directly from the devil myself! Who ever conjured this illness up should bet a front row seat in hell?
Also, I would try Japanese knotweed, echinacea, and goldenseal for an herbal antibiotic until you find a doctor to prescribe a good scrip AB combination. Also, try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and try to limit all sugars but escpecially refined sugars. Begin a gluten free diet, and try some vitamin supplements such as B complex and liquid D3 drops. Another good supplement is CoQ10 for fatigue, as well as cinnamon with chromium for metabolism. Try to eat high quality proteins, such as lean meats, and season them with spices containing great healing powers and health benefits, such as turmeric and saffron. God bless.
For the sleep problems, try dried tart Mariani cherries (about a handful), and peanuts (about an handful), around half an hour before you go to bed.
Many doctors you might go to about Lyme treatment might not be able to help even if they believe you do have Lyme disease and all of your problems are real. The medical community knows that many docs have been harassed by insurance companies about treating past the IDSA protocol of 4 weeks of antibiotics. Infectious Disease docs are the ones they'll refer you to, and they know even more about why they don't want to tangle with this highly politicized illness. You need to find an LLMD, and a lot of the good ones know they can't take insurance or they'll be investigated for violating protocols. If you can't do that then find a good herbal protocol, such as Buhner or Byron White.
The 28 days was not enough. You may need months or years of treatment.
The best route would be to find an LLMD (Lyme literate Dr) or naturapath.
The easy way to do this would be to go to ILADS.org and ask them for a referral by email. Contact us. Seek out a Lyme support group in your area or just google lyme doctor, your city and state.
Mainstream doctors just don't get it and most of us have been through numerous doctors until we found our LLMD.
There are some good herbals that can help you sleep. Let me know if you need names.
I have a mother like yours. Its hard when your relatives don't believe you.
