Lyme tests in the UK

At my recent neurology appointment we discussed my negative result of my Lyme test. My neurologist could not tell me what type of test I had had but said it would have been a good one.

I am diagnosed with Clinically Isolated Syndrome and have brain and spinal lesions and many mild symptoms seen in MS and Lyme.I also lived and frequently visit the Lake District were deer ticks are present and I was constantly removing them from my dog.

I gave my neurologist my list of symptoms and she said they didn't cause her concern for Lyme disease and I was only tested because I raised concern about the possibilitie of Lyme disease. I asked about the CD 57 test but she had not heard of it. She simply said I did not present like a Lyme Patient.

I am sure we are going down the right track but still don't want to disregard the possibility of it maybe been Lyme just yet as I am not convinced.

Anyone know of Lyme docs in the UK?

Ha!  Sorry, I read it as M.D.  (thanks, kitty 9309).

I agree, I think LLMDs are the ones who appreciate CD-57 and the inflammation marker tests.

The MD means Maryland.  I am not a doctor. But I don't think most doctors, other than "LLMDs," use a test for CD-57 lymphocytes to diagnose lyme disease.

I think the MD in patientx profile means the state of Maryland (MD).

I used to have MD in mine and changed it to Maryland for this reason.

You say "If I'm not mistaken, the CD57 panel isn't a test used in the mainstream to diagnose Lyme disease."

I see from your profile that you are an MD, which I take to mean doctor of medicine.

Does your statement mean that *you* would not use CD57 to diagnose/monitor Lyme in your own practice, or that Suzie9's doctor would perhaps not be familiar with the test, or both?  Your statement could be read several ways.

Can you ask for a copy of your test results?  Then you can see for your own eyes which test was run.   I know, in many ways, the British NHS is much different than the U.S. healthcare system.  But in the U.S., you have to right to request copies of your medical records.

If I'm not mistaken, the CD57 panel isn't a test used in the mainstream to diagnose Lyme disease.
