Another Update

So, I went to my first LLMD appt today. Seems this lady is almost positive that I have Lyme. I spent lots of $$ on the Igenex testing but she seemed very open minded, even to toher possibilities, not stuck on Lyme. She seemed to know her stuff and was nice. Should get the results in 3 weeks. I see her again Feb. 3rd. What I leanrned that surprised me.... is that I just ahppened to mention by accident that I was on vacation in Vermont & Nantucket Sept 25th to October 3rd. My symptoms started 10/27, just about 3 weeks after so she said the time is just about right. This LLMD said  that Nantucket is a breeding ground for ticks and here I was walking in the brush taking pictures etc. And I just assumed that b/c I live in Bucks County, PA, that I could have got it here! So at least some things are making sense. I was wondering how I could have got it...

I'll still see what the neuro says and will ask for copies of my reports from him. Mri of the brain tomorrow, neuro on monday, blood test next tuesday, and then I just need a break from this testing while I await results. holy cow, it's stressful!

My LLMD said the same things about the MRI. Glad I was forewarned! If the neuro orders more tests I'll probably hold off till the Lyme test somes back, plus I just need a break.

Yes, you are a champion to get the ball rolling this quickly, and to be working in parallel on both the neuro testing and Lyme evaluation.

The 3 week turnaround is typical of Igenex.  Interesting that your memory was jogged of a possible exposure.  As someone who does not recall the bite that infected me, I spend too much time wondering how the heck I got this.  I don't hate nature, but I hate being in it and am an indoors person who doesn't even like to cut across the lawn.  Sigh.

Good luck with the neuro work up.  You should know that Lyme can cause MRI abnormalities such as non-specific white matter lesions.  Sometimes they look similar to the damage caused by MS.  However, many Lyme patients, even those with obvious neuro symptoms, have normal MRIs.
