My Lyme Results Have Changed

After 3 months of treatment the LLMD told me my Lyme test results have changed quite a bit. My CD 57 went from a 23 to a 56. It still too low, but went through a significant change to say the least.  My C4a level went from 6111 to only 900. . What is more surprising to me is that my IGM results are showing more Lyme bacteria and I would be considered CDC positive. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them?

The LLMD told me this happens sometimes with Lyme patients getting treatment and the Lyme becomes more active and tries to fight back. Now I have got the flu when I rarely ever had the flu and he said again that my immune system is actually responding again. I am on Tamiflu right now.

My antibiotics will be changed too. Which I don't remember which. He is changing the flagyl because it has caused me too hormone imbalances.

That's not unlike the concept behind the "anbiotic challenge" in which the patient is treated for awhile before testing in hopes that it perks up the immune system for a positive result.

I haven't been tested since treatment, kinda neat that you have that benchmark.

My CD57 was in normal range at my most sick.  My doc just said that it's not a good measure for everyone.

This sounds like good news!  Everyone reacts differently to meds ... I had some problems with some of them too, and swapping out meds is not uncommon.

Don't know about the hormone imbalance you note -- but hope you get over the flu soon.

Sending you good thoughts and fine wishes for your health in the New Year!

Wow...Well I think this may be good news!  It looks like your immune system is starting to put up a fight now!   Did he retest you with IgeneX?  Were you on or off abx when you retested?  I'm considering getting retested again.... I'm having a hard time with insurance and am thinking it would be beneficial to have the CDC pos.

I haven't had my CD57 retested yet but is started at a 13.  What does your LLMD say about the CD57?  I know lots of dr's dont rely on it much...  My dr thinks it's a good tool to measure length of treatment.

Flagyl causes hormone imbalances?  I'm  on Flagyl now and am wondering if I have some hormonal issues... I've been very emotional and moody!

Well I hope you keep seeing improvement!!
