New need for an afternoon nap

Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open.  I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7.  I am a terrible napper and rarely ever nap, even when I was at my sickest with Lyme.  I guess it could be herxing from the meds, but I haven't had this in the past. I am wondering if these two drugs are particularly targeting cysts and spiros in my brain.

Anybody else developed an overwhelming need to take afternoon naps while on abx?

Thanks.  It must have something to do with either Tindamax or Biaxin.

And I love the comment about how our bodies are always busy!  i need my hisband to hear that one.  He is starting to think I am a bit lazy.  He is getting burned out from handling most of the household duties.  He has gotten pretty good at grocery shopping, so that's a good thing.

At my last appt, my doc had me cycle the Tindamax, 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off.  I was so glad to stop, as the chronic bitter taste in my mouth and the dark tongue went away.  Well, now that I have cycled back on, both side effects are back.  Yuck.

I am not a napper but once I started treatment for Bart's I sleep most days. My doc said that is a normal type of herxing reaction

I had a very long period when I had to have a long nap evey afternoon. My doc said it is not a bad thing, it often means the body is getting really busy working on the infection. He said having a daily nap wouòd do me lots of good.
Remember, even when we lymies look as if we're doing nothing, on a cellular level we are EXTREMELY busy.

I think your proposed explanation makes sense, about the meds hitting the bugs pretty hard and leaving you wiped out in mid-afternoon.

Did you change supplements also?  I found that moving my once-a-day supplements to the evening instead of morning allowed me to be more wide awake during the day.  I never figured out which supp was affecting me (always about 3 pm), but whatever.

Maybe plan (if you can) to go have a 'bit of a lie-down' in midafternoon, a quiet time to read or something relaxing and see if that gets you past the tired time, rather than trying to fight it.  I was on Biaxin but not Tindamax, and anyway everyone is different, esp in Lymelands.  Be kind to your body!
