Ozone Therapy

Hi everyone:

I saw a dentist who is VERY knowledgeable about lyme and spirochetes.  He said that he has heard of some amazing recovery stories of people using Ozone Therapy.  He mentioned a Dr. Robert Rowen in Santa Rosa (he doesn't know this guy or have any affiliation with him).  He has a youtube video up.

Anyhow, has anyone looked into this?

Just curious....

Better than suppressing Lyme is killing it all.  Don't give up.  Lyme is in the same bacterial family as syphilis, and it can have permanent and devastating effects if not treated fully.

I've done this in four day bursts for the last year and the Lyme is suppressed. Babesia won't go away though. It was so expensive but I'm doing better than the people that are in my support group. Doing the treatments helped me function and continue to work. I also did rounds of five different antibiotics and the ozone and IV glutathione helped me survive it all.

About ozone therapy:

I'd do some serious reading about ozone treatments before sinking the rent money into an ozone generator.  There is a website called Quackwatch that attempts to debunk quackery of all sorts, so it has a definite point of view.

Quackwatch's articles are written by individual contributors, and who knows what they really know (just like us here!), but a few minutes reading vs several hundred dollars might be a good trade-off just to hear the counterarguments.

There are also some stinging articles on Quackwatch against the idea that Lyme is a serious disease, so they take all comers.  I know they are wrong about Lyme, but not sure about ozone.

If I had to choose between spending on a Lyme doc vs an ozone machine, I'd go with the doc.  Personal choice and all that.

Just search online for 'quackwatch' and you'll find it.  Then you can search inside the website for specific topics and decide for yourselves.  fwiw.

Ugg!  I figured ozone treatments would be expensive!  I paid for the $450 for the consultation, took his advise and my prescriptions and ran.  Also, he was really pushing to do the ozone blood transfusion method and the thought just made me uncomfortable.  He also had the ozone sauna.
You're right research really puts the ozone at the top of treatment for Lyme (other than abx).  So, since we're poor my husband purchased the "15 function ozone generator made by A2Z Ozone Inc".  It infuses ozone into your drinking water.  I think he paid a little over $70/80 for it on Amazon.  There were great reviews about it from Lyme patients.  I think I'm in my 3rd week of first time doxy treatment and I'm REALLY hurting, so that may be why I'm not reaping huge benefits from the ozone as of yet.  That said, I would recommend it bc even just that moment of feeling "refreshed" is lovely when you feel like your body is on the verge of a complete shut-down.
If you get it, keep in touch and let me know how it's working out for you!  Best wishes!

Leilajax:  Can you tell me where you got your water machine from and how much it cost?

I found a doctor here locally (only about 15 minutes from my house) that does the Ozone IV thing.  I called just to see how much this would all cost and the receptionist said the consultation is $300 and then each treatment is roughly about $200.00.  Of course, the treatments are not covered by insurance.  Seems nothing is anymore really.

Anyhow, I will wait and talk to my regular doctor about this before proceeding but this all has me a bit curious as I have heard great things about it.

That makes sense.  Lyme doesn't like oxygen and lives just find with absolutely none. It goes for low oxygen environments in the body, such as joint fluid, connective tissue, and scar tissue.

I would guess ozone helps in a similar way to hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Both serve to get more oxygen into the body.  But as HBOT isn't a cure, I doubt ozone will be either.  But anything that makes the little spirochetes less active would surely reduce symptom severity. If it makes you feel better enough to offset the cost, I'd go for it.

Maybe a future cure will come from something that paralyzes them or prevents them from reproducing. Then, they'll all die out and the infection will be gone!

Sounds very accurate to how it makes me feel, Jackie!

Chemically speaking, ozone is the same as the oxygen in the air, but with an extra atom attached to it.

Oxygen in the air is O2; ozone is O3.

I haven't done any reading on why ozone has the refreshing result you note, but I think it's like a breath of fresh air to your cells, like when you leave a stuffy room and go outside where the air is fresh.  Perks you up.

My holistic doctor swears by it, so much so that after I got worse starting doxycycline, my husband bought a home ozone water generator.  I feel refreshed after I drink it (have used it about 5 times now).  However, I wouldn't even say I'm any better off, just refreshed.  I will keep up with it.  Maybe it just takes a lot more treatments:(
