Thanks your response was extremely helpful. I haven't had it long but I thought I cuaght it early so I am annoyed with it. My voice needs to come back. But I will try your suggestions. Maybe something will help. May god be with you,
Kimberly
Lyme suppresses your immune system, so any infection like a cold or cough or flu etc lasts much longer when you have Lyme disease than when you don't.
A common infection that some people with lyme disease get as a co.infection is called Chlamydia pneumonia. It doesn't give you a cough so I don't know why it is called pneumonia! IT had various symptoms, different ones in different people, but one of the things it very often gives is chronic sinusitis.
I don't know how long you'e had sinusitis but if it's been months then this coiuld bet he explanation. If it's less than that then its probably just a normal sinus infeciton that's dragging on because of a weak immune system.
The best thing you can do, which will also help your post nasal drip, is get saline spray and squirt it up your nostrils. It's no good doing a little squirt you need to spray loads, then hold your nose and bend right over so it runs around into your ears, right to the top of your nose etc. WHen you come upright again yoru nose will run like crazy adn you must blow it very gently. You have to do this 3 tyimes in a row, adn then repeat it later in the day so you do it AT LEAST 4 times during the day. If you are not squirting enough liquid up there it will make the sinusitis worse not better, so if you don't have the guts to really go for it, then just do a steam inhapation to make uour nose run a bit instead.
I had extremely painful sinusitis for about 15 years and managed to improve the situation by doing this. It does recur though so you have to keep doing it again and again at the first sign or a recurrence. Eventually it cleared up after taking antibiotics for 3 months and touch wood it hasn't come back. Thank God.
Kimberly,
I have never heard of a sinus infection being caused by Lyme but I suppose if you have Lyme and your immune system is compromised you could get it easier.
I have heard of flu like symptoms many times so you never know. I would ask the doctor if your symptoms don't improve, he may have to change your antibiotic.
I hope you feel better.
