My Lambda was normal and hence, a normal K/L ratio. 2.2 range (0.8-4.0)
This was so long ago, I dodn't ask questions, just believed what I was told...
I have been looking for the answer you ask about the Kappa Protein test
I had bulls eye in 1994, followed (like you) by vertigo attacks and swollen knees.
This has waxed and waned over 15 years. All Lyme tests negative, except the 41 band on the western blot.
My Protein studies back in 1997- when misdiagnosed w/ Meneire's Disease were as follows:
Kappa 1300.0 High range (574-1276.0)
Not very high, but it stands out. I have researched, but cannot make sens of it.
Thats a really good outlook that I didn't think about. That the Lyme disease could be messing with my white cells. Cuz bB can get into your plasma too right??? I have an appointment on Wednesday with my normal doctor to go over the test results to see if he wants to set up a referal with an oncologist. But my insurance dont cover any of the LLMDs I've found so, I wanna get all of my facts straight before I go spending hundreds of dollars on an appointment i may not need. I just can't figure out why the doctor who ordered the tests wont even talk with me. I couldn't even get a phone consult or anything just to ask him the question if the Kappa test is exclusive to cancer or if there are variables that can make it positive as well. I wasn't asking him to go over my medical file with me. Just that simple question. You know what I mean?
Wow, that's a lot of information you had unloaded on you.
My personal reaction would be to follow the LLMD's advice and to ask him about the 'blood cancer' diagnosis, and to guide you to a doctor who can oversee that part of your care in coordination with the LLMD's work on your Lyme.
If you indeed have Lyme as the tests seem to indicate, would your immune system not respond to the infection and perhaps cause strange results that could look like cancer of the blood? That's a question I'd ask the LLMD.
Good luck, let us know what happens and how you do. Take care!
The ID doctor couldn't speak english the greatest but what I got from the "exposure to bB" was that I had been bit by a tick that was not carrying the live infection only the antibodies from a recent infection and so then I made lots of the IgM antibodies to "fight" the dead infection from the IgG antibodies from the tick. But to me it seems that I could have had to been bit a LOT of times by this type of dead infection tick. Or maybe what he was thinking is that I had lyme, got no symptoms from it and fought it off just with in the last few months and it was just a coincidence that we ran a Lyme test. I really honestly dont know. My LLMD thinks it's a typical response from a CDC doc and that I need to be started on treatment right away. But now I tested positive for blood cancer so I think I need to figure this out first. Cuz this type of cancer is in the white blood cells so it will effect your antibodies so that could be why my lyme titers dont make much sence. I dont know though. i just wanna know if some people with lyme or lupus can test positive for this kind of cancer. '
Hey if you have anymore questions just hit me up. I research SO much about lyme and such illnesses.
good luck!
'just exposure' - to lyme - what does that mean ?
I am sorry I can't help with your results info.
best wishes
