Walk in test for lymes and co-infections

Is it possible when I go to the US in two weeks to be tested for lymes there instead of canada and just pay the fee there? Will they do it at a walk in?  How much does it cost?

Hey Ness78.
You are good! I'm impressed with your knowledge.
Our issue here in Canada is that we have no LLMDs. Maybe one or two in hiding.
Most GPs will not sign off as there are just too many serious implications.
In Ontario, the College of Physicians and Surgeons is just too powerful and have no mercy when it comes to breaking established policies
and protocol.
We truly live in the Dark Ages when it comes to such matters.
For the ones that can afford it , well why not just hop across the border,
pay the price and get it all done there. That way they do not have to deal with the crazy politics.
For the ones that they cannot afford it, there are ways of course.
But it becomes a Second Front , besides dealing with their un-diagnosed Condition -with all the accompanying symptoms.
The N.D. option in this case is probably the one to explore first as 2 weeks from the original post means only one week left!
Have to act fast Ticked!
Wishing you all well!
Niko

From Canada - a naturopath can sign off on it and you can get your blood drawn at Lifelabs for $30. Bloodlabs in Canada are technically private and contracted out by OHIP.  So they are not tied to our gov't medicine.

Then you have to have fed-ex pick it up for delivery.

I mentioned in another post that I have specific ideas for you for doctors if you private message me your email.

The kit is free.  Just call IGENEX.

The problem with your GP signing off on the test...if you test postive and then go to the States for treatment...you will likely need your GP to support you with blood tests for WBC and liver testing....

If your GP has signed off on the IGENEX they can't act as a 'passive supporter' of the risk you are taking on your own.

They then become and an active supporter of something they condoned in the first place. .

This may be OK with your GP, my doc't prefers to be a passive supporter.  As long as I am assuming the risk, she will support me with bloodwork.

She won't even let me put my LLMD's fax number on the bloodwork she signs off on.

I will play the game however she wants, as long as she keeps running my  bloodwork.

The IGENEX kits are $50, I think.  I found an LLMD that for another $50 signed the order for me, and I found a local lab to do the blood draw for $8.  The two tests, IgG and IgM western blots are $100 ea, payable when the sample is sent to Igenex.  So I'll have the bare bones for $308.  But to answer your question, there's no walk in testing that I'm aware of.  Like carrie said, a doctor's order for the blood draw is needed, and a regular MD isn't likely to order it.

What part of the US are you coming to?  If you are going to get tested through Igenex, you will need a doctors signature prior to getting the bloodwork done.  Actually, I guess you would need to see a doctor, no matter what.

What I would do is to see if you can make an appt with an LLMD in the area that you will be visiting.  Call and see what bloodwork they want beforehand, get the bloodwork done well before your appt and then go in, get the results and then get on treatment if they feel it's warranted!

I'm sure that others will be along with good advice.
