Western Blot test

Hey everyone,
Well I went and saw a new dr this morning.  He is redoing the Lymes test this time using the Western Blot.  He's also checking for vitamin def.,and auto immune (again).  They still have no idea what is going on with me.  I told him I was still concerned about MS and he told me he was sure it wasn't being that I have had all MRIs years apart.  I hope he is right!  My brain fog and dizziness have been better these past few days , but am still getting the burning in my shins and feet, numbness, and shooting pains. I'm still feeling very weak and tired too.  Also I randomly have been getting really sharp stabbing pain in my right ankle!  Hurts really bad.  Lasts only a few moments and then is gone.

I was also wondering about the effects of taking antibiotics before the western blot.   I was taking Augmentin for a sinus infection, but haven't taken it in a few days.  Will this mess up the test?  I should've asked the dr, but I forgot.  Or will it help?

  Thanks!
  Karey

Sorry, may have said this to you on another thread, but have you tried magnesium supplements for the twitching?  It's cheap and simple.

not a dr but i wouldn't think a dose of Augmentin would drastically impact the results of your western blot, esp since you're dealing with neurological symptoms, which suggests it would be in the later stages if it is lyme.  has your dr checked your CD57 immune marker?  it's a pretty common diagnostic test for lyme disease these days but it's not 100%.

i noticed you've been on the MedHelp since 2007.  have you been dealing with medical issues since then?  our symptoms sound very similar but in addition to what you've described, i'm also dealing with diffuse muscle twitching, which really ***** and is scary (as I can't stop thinking i may have ALS despite having a clean EMG/NCS).  Have you traveled to tropical areas in recent past?
