54 and no menopause

Hi,

I am 54 and have not yet begun menopause so I am wondering when does it begin?  I have had the FSH test several times and it was always normal.

I`m 54 too and have just this year started having some irregularity with my periods.  I`ve missed three altogether, though not consecutively so I havent begun the "count" yet.  I`m SO happy to have anything happening that will bring an end to the hell of periods.  I have PMDD so each month since I was 13 have been a nightmare and really has spoiled so much of my life.
Some months now I get all the pms symptoms but no bleeding, some cramps, sore breasts and mood swings up the wazoo!   I`ve had enough now and just want it to be over with.  I`ve slept with a fan aimed at me all year round for years as I always get hot at night but it does seemed to have intensified lately with a different kind of hot flash.
Yay!  The end is in sight!

You know I am a woman and this is news to me. That a  woman can stop
having her periods in her late 50's. We learn something everyday.
I suppose if a mother is a late menopauser then the daughter may follow
the same.

I am 55 and I am still having irregular periods.  This has just happened within the last year.  Up until then I had regular periods.  However I have been going thru perimenopause for years with all other symptoms.  My mom was 58 when she stopped her periods.  Sadly, I think I am going to be the same.  I still have hot flashes, night sweats, etc, but I don't want to take hormone therapy.  I guess some of us just can't catch a break.

Wow, I wish that you will have a continued transition this easy into menopause. Menopause is when you have no more periods.
So many woman suffer pretty bad during perimenopause, the years leading up to menopause.
I think it can be as late as 59??
Stay well...:)
