Menopause question

I've just lost 160 lbs. and I have just recently start having night sweats and not sleeping through the night. My  doctor wants to start hormone therapy but I don't want to take any meds that will make me gain my weight back so she suggested doing an DNC and I want to know which one is the better option. HRT or DNC. And I'm having a hard time getting rid of the last 97 lbs. and I'm tired constantly even with taking B12 by mouth daily and shot weekly. Thanks in advance for the advice

I am not sure I would jump straight to hormones.  There are many natural products on the market that control things like hot flashes and night  sweats.  There  is so much controversy about using HRT or not. Not sure how old you are or if cancer risk is an issue, but having lived through breast cancer I wouldn't wish it on anyone.  Natural products don't cause weight gain.

I was also wondering the reason for the DNC.
I've heard of girlfriends gaining 5 or 10 lbs, like the same weight gain as birth control pills.  So I agree with Annie.
Take the hormones & see what happens.   Pamela

I don't think there is any real evidence that taking hormones makes you gain weight.  If doing so did, I would weigh 400 lbs., after all the IVF tries I've had and the massive hormone loads they give you for that.

As for a D&C, why does the doctor offer that as an alternative to taking hormones?  It's a one-time procedure, scraping out the lining of the uterus.  It would do nothing for you in terms of night sweats and being wakeful.

Unless the doc is telling you that you have uterine hyperplasia that should be removed, I would consider taking the hormones and seeing how they make you feel.  Estrogen makes me feel super.

Good luck!!!!!
