Palpitations

Just wondering if anyone is having problems with palpitations while going through menopause?

I've had palpitations for years and am still in peri-menopause.  They often happen at night but for the past year they have almost disappeared.  Palpitations are often very normal in peri-menopause.

I have experienced heart palpitations now for over a year and am in menopause.  I have had an echocardiogram and Holter Monitor and all checked out okay.  I needed to do this for peace of mind and to make sure nothing was wrong with my heart.  My suggestion is to have them checked out with your doctor.  I am using a natural progesterone cream twice daily (over the counter) which really helps with the hot flashes.  I only have about 2 a day now which is a great improvement!  I am counting the days when this menopause thing is finally over!  The best of luck to you.

Hi, yes I have awful palpitations frequently, sometimes they come before a hot flash and are followed by panic, sometimes they come on their own. They are a very commonn part of the menopause. But you should also just make sure with your doc that they are definately related to the menopause in your case and not something else. I'm sure it will be due to the meno though. Hope this helps.

I'm perimenopausal (haven't made it to menopause quite yet) and I've had palpitations along with a host of other symptoms.  Most often for me the heart issue is extremely hard pounding though.   If you haven't seen a doctor you probably should do that just to be sure it's hormones and not a real heart problem.
